hi all if you could help me with this i would be absolutely grateful.

ive managed to aquire 3 gp340 radios for airsofting and all three work ok and communicate well between each other. the trouble is that my mate who i got them from
has told me i need to change the frequencies of them because they are set up for there company. anyway i dont want to get him in trouble, ive purchased a usb programming cable
and got the professional gp300/gm300 series cps program. i havent tried to connect the radios yet. oh also ive not got a license or anything so i need to use the frequencies as such that come on the talkabout type radios.

could anyone post me a step by step to change the frequencies on these as that would be a great help.

thankyou in advance

Using them on the 'talkabout' freq's is illegal. The pmr446 freq range is disgned for low power radios, which meet a certian spec. Your radios don't meet that approval spec. For a start, the type approval says that the aerial must be non removable, the maximum output is 400mw, not 4w (as your gp340's can put out). Much much better to go the licensed route.

You can get a uk general licence from ofcom for £75. For that, you get a number of frequencies that you can use, anywhere in the UK.

Another advantage is that if you are a serious airsofter, then the other team wont be able to listen to you without difficulty !. I have had teams come to me for advice, because their rivals can listen into their little talkabout radios. I didn't realise how much money there can be made by winning !

If you end up interfering with someone, you risk your kit being taken off you, prosecution, and fines.

Its not all doom and gloom though - you have some decent radios, that will outlast the crap 446 kit, and also have a huge range of pro accessories available to fit them. You will also have a better range - they transmit at 400 miliwatts, you can at 4 watts.

There is a guide in the downloads section - including a video guide. Yuo need to subscribe to get it though. Its easy to do when you see the video.

hiya thanks for the reply bud the license from ofcom is it a permanent license or is it a yearly type of thing
like you say it would be better to use my own frequencies as public is well public and people can
eaves drop conversations.

Its a 3 year licence for £75 notes.

It allows you to put your radios on one of 3 freq's, and you can use them anywhere in the country.

Up to you what tones you want to use.
