hey all i have a question... does anyone know if theres a way to make your radio transmit or de-transmit a mdc-1200 sounding tone either before or after the ptt?  the radio's i have are a motorola GP340 and also a GP360.  i also have the cps software and was curious if anyone might know how to do this.  and if anyone also knows... the city police/fire/sheriff in my city transmit an mdc-1200 upon release of the ptt and theyre radios basically "choke-out" the mdc tone so as if it sounds like a "chirp" instead of the whole tone... does anyone know how a person can program a radio to do the same... thanks in advance!!!

Hi,

This is a uk based forum, and our versions of the HT series (the GP series) dont have mdc signalling on them at all. We use selcall.

Have you thought about re flashing your radios to turn them into ht ones ?. Assuming you are in the states (talking about sheriffs etc), this will not only make them have mdc singalling on them, but also so you can program them using the same software that everyone else in the states uses.

De key transmit is easy to do - its in per personality, s5 encode, and simply tick the box.

well the last time i took my radio to my local motorola dealer they said that they would not touch the radio because it was not "legal" for the U.S..  so using the cps software i was jus curious if the mdc-1200 was the same as selcall.  otherwise i have not thought about or have the knowledge to convert radio to HT series.  and since my motorola dealer wont work with me.... im guessing im on my own when it comes to programming.  so was jus curious otherwise im waiting to get my computer back from the repair shop so i can try the idea that you had.  when i get it back ill try what u suggested.  thanks.

It doesnt sound like mdc, because its selcall. The only way is to flash the radio to be a ht series, and go from there.

Being in the US, getting hold of the cps is a lot easier than getting it over this side of the pond !.

You will have to speak to motorola to get a copy. Dave / Rob on here can get the uk version for you, but I'm not sure about the us version (im sure one will be along shortly to confirm).

Use the depot tool to change it - Ive never done it personally, but I have seen on here how easy it is to do. There are other threads about how to do it. Its as simple as programming.
