Hi, I'm wanting to upgrade the firmware in my radio. I know this can be a dangerous process because if it stalls midway through then it'll be off to the big M for a new board.

The txt file says that I need the "Flashing Adapter HLN9742 and RIB Box." Is this absolutely necessary or can it be done with the normal USB programming cable?

I have a very similar question. I have a USB programming cable for my GP340, what sort of flash adapter do I need and also where will it sit "inline" in the cable ?
