First of all, thanks for making the only site i could find which seems relevant to what I'm looking for.

I need to very urgently come up with codeplugs that will enable a maximum security for our staff. This means that I have to add a few functions to the one I already programmed. If necessary, I could upload the codeplug, should the setup be too complicated.

1) Group call on GP380:

- Could you give me a step by step guide to enable "Radio A" to send a Selective call to "al Radios" on that channel. Basically Ideally, I would like to be able to select a group (please let me know how to create that group) and send a call to all, to bring there attention to a following message.

2) Emergency alert:

How could I get the Emergency Alert (orange button) to only let a group of peoples (security group radios) to respond, and get the others to be unable to talk while the emergency is happening?

The purpose I am trying to achieve, is to have only the people responsible for an Emergency response to communicate or deal with that emergency without having others to interfere with that Emergency.

3) Does the Encryption module for GP380 enables a channel to be fully secured so that no one can actually listen or spy on that channel, leaving the Security staff to work securely. Could there be a way to have the Emergency button when press to switch automatically onto an Emergency "hidden" channel, so that only security group can work on it? This relates maybe to my question (2)

I sincerly hope you can help me with this. Let me know if you would like me to send you my codeplug (if that makes it easier).

Thanks in advance,

Fabrice

Hi,

Heres some of the bits you need:

1) Group call on GP380:

- Could you give me a step by step guide to enable "Radio A" to send a Selective call to "al Radios" on that channel. Basically Ideally, I would like to be able to select a group (please let me know how to create that group) and send a call to all, to bring there attention to a following message.

Simple way would be to set up a selcall receive as an 'individual call' - so a tone and an LED indication come up.

On the radio you want to broadcast from - set up a selcall on one button on the side lets say. set it up as 33001 to transmit.

On the receive radios, set up a decoder definition, with 33(a1A2A3) in the selcall bit, then set it up as 'individual alert'

Dont forget to enable it in the per personality in s5 decode, otherside you wont decode it !.

Unable to talk - hmmmmm. Dont know about that one. The rest though : Assign a selcall to the orange button, say 99001. Then on all the receive radios, set a decoder defintion to 99(a1a2a3), and the type to 'incoming emergency'. When the radio gets 99 and 3 digits incoming, it will start an emergency display (beeping, led etc) and will look for the rest of the number in the contact list - so name your radios in the contact list, and it will display the radios name, as well as the tones etc.

Yes, you can get several encryption modules for the gp380. Simple voice inversion is the cheapest - but can be unscrambled by a computer, and doesnt sound that different to normal voice. Its simple to decrypt. So much so, that people have purchased cheap 446 radios, and decoded the encrypted signals through it. Rolling code is better - but encryption has its downsides. One being that repeaters sometimes have to be tweaked to work correctly with it. If you go remotely out of range, the codes get jumbled up, and you loose all comms - whereas normal analogue you could hear people.

You could set up the emergency button to change to a specific channel - its in emergency tab, and its called 'revert channel'. If you want nobody to select the emergency channel normally, then on the channel itself, go to the misc tab, and you will see a tick box for 'inhibit channel selection'. There you go.

I sincerly hope you can help me with this. Let me know if you would like me to send you my codeplug (if that makes it easier).

Sending your codeplugs (for all the radios you want to be done) is really the only quick way of doing it. However, that teaches you nothing, which is the whole point of this forum ! - and thats why I have put some info here to get you started.

George

Thank you so much George the Emergency trick is perfect, as I can change and inhibit the Emergency channel, then I can achieve the wanted purpose!

For the Group call, and despite working with this programming for a while, I never really got into understanding the Decode definition which is the most confusing... blame on me!! Could you please be so kind and tell me how you program a Selcall on a button? I know how to assign a button  to a function, but not a selcall Smiley

I will upload my test codeplug to the server under FabriceTESTcdp380 so you can help me directly (as it is urgent). I will then be able to understand while reading your help, and comparing codeplugs.

Thanks a lot!

Hi I am simply trying to use select 5 as a method of squelch control. I just want my radios on a certain channel to not break squelch unless they hear a select5 tone first. I have gp380s and all i can seem to do is make them display "CALL RECEIVED" and beep when they hear the telegram. Telegram 1 sends upon PTT keyup. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t see this being an issue

Basically it would be a group or individual selective call.

i've had this working on radios before.

Regards
Dave
