Dear Members

We initially started the forum in November 2008 and we have had more and more new members join every month. April 2009 we had over 200 new members join.

The past 3 months we have been using around 3GB per month of bandwidth. However April 2009 we saw a sudden increase of bandwidth usage to just over 10GB for this month, which is very close to our limit for our hosting account.

We tried to contact the provider to ask for more bandwidth but they seem to have gone out of business and this was confirmed when I checked with Companies House.

Due to the increase of traffic we have moved the forum onto a Dedicated Server which allows us more disk space and bandwidth per month; we now have in excess of 2000GB of monthly bandwidth available to the site. This upgrade alone cost us £300.00 extra per year.

We have also chosen to use a new domain name for the forum, which is http://forum.motorola-radio-support.co.uk

We are currently uploading all the software to the new server of which will be available soon on the new domain. We will provide an update to this once this part of the upgrade is complete and will then confirm the web address fro the downloads.

We have had feedback from members who say the access information to download files is sometimes confusing. Therefore, we are trying to introduce a system where when you get prompted for the username and password when downloading files, you will then only enter your forum username and password in order to gain access.

We are also going to introduce a module for the forum which will allow members to subscribe to the downloads and forum from within there forum control panel

This will then direct you to papal to make the necessary payment and once completed, it will automatically upgrade your forum account and in turn give you access to the download area. This will then become a fully automated system.
Which will save us time and make it easer and quicker for members to download files when required.

We will provide an update when this solution has been completed.

There will also be a number of enhancements to the forum over the coming weeks to provide even more features for the benefit of members.

In the mean time, please bear with us while we do the full upgrade. If you discover any broken links, please let us know so we can fix them.

Regards

Dave

The new download site will be http://downloads.motorola-radio-support.co.uk/

existing username and passwords will continue to work

the old address will continue to work, we will be moving pineway.co.uk to the new server and will try and map it all over so there is no broken links

there is more software on the new server (2.6GB)

Hi

Members can upload files to our server by going to the below url

http://downloads.motorola-radio-support.co.uk/index.php?dir=Upload-Area/

you will need to login with the current download username and password. once logged in, you will see the option to upload files.

We had to chnage this as the upload area was getting abused by people uploading files to dispay the server information.

All we ask, when members upload software, that they make a forum post and make reference to the file they uploaded so that everyone is aware of the new file and then members will know if it is of any benefit to them.
Many Thanks

Regards

Dave

[Update]

Download Site
The URL www.pineway.co.uk has now been fully setup on the new server.

this means you can now download via the following urls

http://downloads.motorola-radio-support.co.uk  (Preferred URL)
http://www.pineway.co.uk

both of the urls point to the same directory on the server and therefore there will be no broken links

Forum URL
We have moved the url group.pineway.co.uk/forum to the new server - this will be a basic redirection service to the new url of http://forum.motorola-radio-support.co.uk

We have updated the dns servers for the domain pineway.co.uk and this should be updated soon and fully functional on the new server within 24 hours.

I apologies for the disruption to any service caused by this upgrade

Kind Regards
Dave

Dave, I have a newer version (Nov 2001) of the Basic GP3xx Service manual to upload but it fails when I try. It's 5.42 MB. Should I use FTP as mentioned in a previous post?

Here is a screen shot of the amount of bandwidth used this month so far

The site is getting more traffic now and the amount of new members each month is continuing to grow.

[Update]

Forum

I have upgraded the forum to the latest version which fixes some issues.

I have installed Spam Protection software on the forum due to the increased amount of spam that the forum is receiving.

Every new member is referenced with http://www.stopforumspam.com database and if the member is listed they will not be able to post on the forum unless approved.

This should see a decrease in the level of spam on the forum, please continue to report any spam that you discover on the forum.

Members - Feedback

We have now introduced a feedback system that rewards members by helping others.

Please visit http://forum.motorola-radio-support.co.uk/index.php/topic,503.0.html for more information on our Feedback System.
