As a comm's device, or something to do with the actual race itself?

I can't say I can recall hearing of such a system... Any more info?

Vemcom is the vet and medical channels at races.

Its used with ROCS - racecourse operational comms system.

vemcom is 168.9250 ctcss 103.5hz.

rocs is 168.3000 ctcss 103.5hz.

On all handhelds - channel 1 is the rocs channel, channel 4 is the vemcom channel.

Edit to add:

Forgot to say what its used for !. Vemcom is used by the medical teams (doctors, ambulances etc) for the actual race course itself. Other comms for st johns etc are on their respective channels.

Theory is that you could be a race doctor for any event around the country, turn up with your radio, and plonk it on channel 4, and youve got instant comms with all the others you need to talk to.

The ops channel isnt as interesting as it sounds.
