Hi

I have a couple of DP3600, licensed copy of CPS and cable. Everything connects fine and I have loaded the default codeplug from CPS OK. Been through the tutorial but still cannot seem to add and program extra analogue PBR channels with CTSS tones and correct freqs. I want to have 15 channels matching our other PBR sets.
I also wish to add some Amateur repeaters with offsets (different Tx and Rx) and CTCSS. How do I add analogue channels in CPS? I can add in the channel pool but what then?
I can receive from another analogue radio (no CTCSS) but nothing is transmitted?

Can anyone spare a few minutes to give me how to do do this simple? task? or point me to where I can learn?

Thanks guys ..........

Hi Ian,

You don't need to add to the channel pool, you can just use a normal zone.

Right click on the zone that you want to add a channel to. Then select 'analogue channel'. This will add an analogue channel to the zone. Repeat this until you have enough channels added to the zone (16 is the maximum amount of channels per zone). You can have several zones if 1 is not enough. If you have no zones, or you require more, right click on the channels tab and select add zone. Repeat this as neccessary to add zones.

When you have added the channel you can right click on each individual channel and re-name it to what you want. Select each channel and fill in the necessary areas. TX & RX frequency, use the drop down to select the CTCSS type and then select the tone required (DPL or TPL).

Signalling system should be set to 'none'.

You will also need to set a button definition to allow you quick access to the zones via the 'buttons' tab. You can select zones via the menu interface, but personally I find it much quicker to have a button set. I use P2 short press for my zone button.

I would suggest 1 zone for digital channels, 2nd zone for your analogue PBR channels and a third zone for amateur repeaters. You can label all of the zones so you know exactly what you are looking at.

Hope this helps,

Do you mean something like this-   I->I (excuse the poor diagram)? If this is what your on about it means you are in back-to-back or direct mode. Basically you are simplex not duplex.

When you enter duplex/repeater frequencies this will disappear.

The manuals are pretty useless, do a google search for 'Mototrbo system planner'. This will give you a really good insight into the features and functions.

Added channels OK! Added two zones as you suggested 2nd for dig and 3rd for repeaters.

When transmitting on a test channel (430.4000)the 3600 just "rings"? NOt received on other radio. Rx only box is NOT checked. Maybe I have global radio setting wrong somewhere?

Learning this is a challenge - and I thoght it would be easy after grasping GP s/ware!

Hope you can help?

Hi Ian,

Sounds like you have the 'Contact Name' set to the radio I.D of the other radio, in this case it will start a private call as you are calling an individual radio, not a group.

Set a group, let's say 1000
Set radio 1's I.D to 101
Set radio 2's I.D to 102

It is important that each radio on the system has a unique I.D, it could be the case that you have both radios set to the same I.D, which will cause havoc! To set the I.D of the radio use the 'General Settings' tab and enter the numbers in the box marked 'Radio ID'.

On each channel there is an drop down box on the right hand side (under the TX frequency) called 'Contact Name'. Once you have created group 1000 this will appear in the drop down, select this for both radios. Group 1000 (which you can rename) will become the default calling group for that particular channel. Now when you transmit the group name will appear on the radio screen, and the receiving radio will display the radio I.D number and the group. You need to assign this group to each channel.

Learning the way in which groups works is the key part to TRBO, once you have worked it out in your head this CPS is so simple in comparison to the GP series.

If you are stuck e-mail the codeplug to me, I will have a look and send you it back with the neccessary alterations (ben_wall18@yahoo.co.uk)

All of the above is for digital mode ONLY, not analogue!

Thanks guys. Now having read the book I think I understand. The other param which I had not changed was "channel admit"

One last quiestions - talks about "colours"  -for groups?  do not understand this bit.

This is a wonderful resource - thanks again for the help

'Colour Code' is a parameter for each individual channel. Options are 0-15.

The colour code must be the same for each frequency. This is like the CTCSS for analogue radios... If the colour codes does not match the repeater/radio will not open. Each channel can have a different colour code aslong as all of the other radios have the same colour code for that channel/frequency.

Hope this makes sense!

Motorola software is very different to some of the other makes out there, and 'not doing' one tick box, can make the entire thing not work usually !

I was a newbie here once, and I'm still one - Motorola seem to add new features every month to these radios, and some require some getting used to !.

I once had to sort out a trunk system - it was a nightmare. The capacity plus system on trbo is SO much easier. Pop the channels in, and you are nearly there !. Without some of the members help on here, I would of never done it.

It's one big learning curve... If we all share the knowledge then we can all achieve what we want!

Like George said, very often it's a case of 'ticking the right box'. I was a newbie not so long ago, and often read a post that teaches me something new, or a different way of doing something.

The biggest problem (in my opinion) are the people who are willing to spend hundreds/thousands of pounds on the hardware, but not the software. There seems to be an idea that the software should be free, which once upon a time it was- sort of. But now we are all forking out £200+ to get software sorted, cables etc... Nice to see you have invested in the CPS along with your radios Smiley

Feel free to shout up with any questions.
