Hi Guys,

Total newbie to these type of walkie talkies as I have been using the cheapy non licensed ones for years.

I have bought 10 - 2nd hand 3600's with charger that work OK as they are. I just got my OFCOM license to use them and have read through the user manual.

Do I have to get them reprogammed by a dealer to match the OFCOM freqency of the license ?

Is there a way to see what frequency they are already set at to see if it is in that range already ?

How do I wipe out the existing list of contacts and groups already on them with the new ones I want to use ?

They must have been used in the past by a supermarket as they have things like checkout and secuirty guard programmed in them.

I have been reading the forum and talk about a programming lead and altering version software.

Is this something I can do myself via a PC ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hi,

did reply earlier, although my phone seems not to sent it !

You will need the programming cable, and the software to get any info out of the radio, or to reprogram it.

The cable and software is available from Rob (admin here) - click 'contact admin team' and he will give you prices etc.

The software isnt exactly a walk in the park, although it is easy once you get the hang of it.

Theres a few of us here who have had the learning process to go through with the dp series, and theres lots of nice little features you can have on them.

Where abouts in the country are you, i'm sure someone willing to help if you get stuck will be close. A few of us here are events based people, so get to go up and down the country a fair bit too, so theres a chance that we may be able to help if passing (for a pint or 2, of course !)

I would say buy the software (CPS) and programming cable, that way if you need to make any changes in the future you can do it yourself.

Changing frequencies, contacts, groups etc is very easy (compared to the GP series CPS). Takes a little while to get your head around the 'groups', but in fairness that is the most complicated part... When you start using multiple groups on multiple frequencies/repeaters it does require planning. For 10 radios back-to-back you will be fine.

Like George said, there are a few of us scattered all over the country, so if you get really stuck we can help you out... For now though get yourself sorted with the CPS and programming cable from Rob, then we can help you out!

I'm in sussex, so a bit far for me.

For that sort of cash, you can get a cable, and you are well on your way to the software. Much better to have it, so you can reprogram if needed.

Really useful if you need to change around settings etc, and every firmware release theres more and more functions coming out for the radios.
