using my gp344 UHF in the US? possible?

I will be going to the states shortly, and I was wondering what is the regulation for the use of UHF radios.
I have them programmed to frequencies that I normally use here in the UK: can I just use those frequencies in the US, or am I advised to program other frequencies, or not use them at all?

Your radio is not type approved to be used in the US. However, it will work over there. You will not be able to use the frequencies you use in the UK... You could quite easily land on anyone's frequency.

Unless you have a specific need to use the radios I wouldn't bother, it could end up being more hassle than its worth. Considering how crampt our UHF band is here in not so sunny blighty, you can imagine how busy it is over there!

I believe the governing body in the US is the FCC (Federal Communication Commision). Have a google, you might find some Information on there which will help you.
