I'm trying to flash a GP340 with the Unofficial Lab Upgrade Kit, but I cannot get it into bootstrap mode.

I'm using an original Motorola Ribless cable and flash adapter, and I can flash the radio with the official Motorola firmware.

I normally get the radio in bootstrap mode by disconnecting the battery with the radio switched on, then reconnecting it.  Like I say, it's working fine with the official Motorola firmware upgrade, but not with the Unofficial Lab Kit.

Any ideas?

No idea mate, sorry! I have never tried this before and don't want to give advice that im not 100% confident of myself, especially when it comes to flashing (the radio that is lol).

Andreas did make some instructions, they are on the forum somewhere... Have a search!

Good luck though Smiley

Just found it for you- you may have read it though...

It is backwards to what you are trying to do, but might help you understand!

Thanks for that.  I did read through that and followed the instructions, but for some reason I'm not able to get the radio in bootstrap mode.

I'm missing something, so I have to find it!  Grin

You should try to run it on another PC!
I havnīt tested it on Win 7 yet,but you donīt have any problems if you run it on a Win 95/XP operating system.
Donīt use an USB cable for flashing those radios!

Hi Andreas.

I'm running the software on a Windows XP machine, and I'm not using a USB cable so not sure why it won't work!

This is driving me mad.

I've tried this now on 3 different pc's and it does the same thing on all of them - FL0 Download Failed!!

All the other functions work, like programming the codeplug, area code and ESN.  It's only the flash tool that won't play ball!

Andreas, any thoughts?

Sometimes, you can fix it,when you use the old bootloaders.
You should also try it with a real RIB and/or with a different radio.

How do you use one of the older bootloaders?

I can see the 3 older bootloaders, but cannot see anywhere to select them!
