Hi there,

I have acquired a couple of GP380's from a friend, each with their own chargers. Both batteries appear charge fine, however one radio does not turn on at all. No LED's, beeps nothing. Ive opened it up and there doesnt seem to be any loose connections or bad soldering. Any suggestions?

PS. I'm a complete novice when it comes to these radios, but I do have a very decent knowledge of electronics (degree).

Regards.

Ellis.

Hi,

Have you tried swopping the batteries between radios to prove that the battery on the radio that does not power up is not a 'dead' battery?

Yeah i put the battery from the working radio into the broken one and still nothing. Could it be a fuse or something?

There are lots of reasons why the radio might not be powering up... Dry solders are not uncommon on the GP series from memory. In fairness whenever I had an issue with my radio's I use to drop them into my dealer to fix/repair.

In my case electronics are not my 'forte' and I would probably do more harm than good lol.

If you are feeling confident pop the case off and have a look at the main board and it's surroundings. You may well find a dry joint or loose cable! Apart from that, pop it into your local dealer to have a look at! They should quote you before ay work is carried out.

There is also an advert at the top of the page for repairs- with 20% off for first time customers!

Yeah Ill probably take it in to get it looked at if I cant get it working myself. Does anyone know what the fuse looks like and where it is, because I cant seem to find it.
