Hello,

Just purchased 9 GP680's to use with our trunked system. I can program these fine but need to upgrade the firmware for them to work with our base station.

I have a ribless cable I use for programming and the correct cps. This of course wont help me with the firmware upgrade.

What do I need hardware and software wise ? and can anyone point me in the correct direction ?

thanks for any help!!

All the best,

James

Hi James,

Personally I would go to a dealer. If you want to do it yourself you will require a Flash Adaptor, RIB Box and a (proper) Motorola programming cable... And of course the Flash Software!

GP3XX are easy enough to 'brick' if you mess the process up... I have never upgraded GP6XX but I can only manage it is just as hard- even more so if you have never done it before.

You would be looking at around £5-£15 per radio for a dealer to flash the radios. If you wanted to buy the kit and have a go yourself then you can buy everything you need from this forum (contact Rob-Admin).

There is an advert at the top of the page for radio repairs.  The contact is Mike at Protea - he will be able to do them for you (and 20% discount for first time customers!)
