Does anyone else miss the old Backlight settings from the GP range? With the old GP range you had 3 options for back light, OFF - ON - Timed. Its the timed function i miss the most, when the handheld received a signal in timed mode it lite up the backlight. We spend a lot of time in the dark and quiet, you could have the radio turned down and when it lit up on receive you could then pick up the radio and have a listen.

The TRBO range only has this backlight OFF or only activate on a button press (but not PTT).

Am I missing a setting? or is there a way of feeding back to Motorola that this function would be great                   (it is a feature on the tetra range also)
Can the man off the street contact the TRBO team and say have a look at what your other teams have done before?

Yes, i agree Olly! And no, you are not missing a setting.

Hopefully a future firmware update will solve that. I have a feeling Motorola keep an eye on this, as well as other forums... So you never know they might just pick up on it.

I can't see any harm in sending an e-mail to the development team. If you/me are missing the function then there is a good chance there are many users who would also like to see it back. You have to remember... 'we' who programme our own radios are in the minority, most companies/businesses just buy their radio's and distribute them to users. I think its fair to say that 99% of radio end users would not be able to programme a radio, thus they don't have any idea as to what the radio is capable of! "If it does'nt do it already, then it cant do it"

The light is only active for 2 sec.

This is especially a problem when receiving text alerts when the light switch off, just when you look at the radio. Or the radio used by a supervisor at an office to monitor who is communicating, and thus needs constant light.
A setup in CPS, where you can set the time of light between 1-60 sec. and can define a function key to light ON/OFF, and possibly an option where the light is active until you've seen the alarm (by handling) is very much desired.

I'm glad to see there are others who also want constant light.
I've been trying for years to introduce this feature, and each time a new frimware is released hoping it came, but nothing happened.

I hope there's someone who reads this will try to get Motorola to understand that it is a much desired feature.

I think a phone call to Motorola and ask to be put through to the technical support Dept. for TRBO.

I have a feeling this will not be as easy as it seems though!!

the support email address is on the back of the old system planner document.

Having looked at the latest planner, theres no addresses on there - so if anyones got version 1 of the system planner, its on there.

So is the new CPS version 7.0 (Build 351) released.  Smiley

Is the function with constant light come with it. ?

I have not had a chance to investigate it yet.

Are there otherwise some who can confirm that they have had positive contact with Motorola about the problem?
