I have the CPS software I purchased while in Iraq, but when I hook the radio to the computer it says "Can Not Create Unknown Radio
Component" What can I do to fix this?

Hi Firedoc,

I am not sure what region Iraq would come under but it would not be EMEA (Europe). More likely middle east.

If you are trying to programme EMEA radios then unfortunately it will not work, you will have to re-purchase the EMEA CPS. Different regions use different radios, therefore the CPS is different. This in theory stops none regional radios being programmed/used in countries which could be 'type specific' for that country/region.

Lots of people are buying radios from Hong Kong (see the previous threads) and finding out they require the Asia CPS to programme them... Pain in the backside, but there are valid reasons for this!

Also UK dealers (as a general rule) will not touch none EMEA kit as the 'Big M' would have a great deal to say about that, and in the long run OFCOM would too.

That being said... It IS possible to change the regional settings on a radio... I have never done this so wouldn't have a clue where to start, there is a thread running on the forum about it somewhere, have a search. If my memory serves me correctly Dave also made a video of how to do this (you will need to be a subscriber to access the videos).

Hope this explains it all a little bit!  Smiley

EMEA stands for Europe Middle Est and Africa, so Iraq should be correct. Except if radio is export radio...

What's the complete model number ?
