Where do most of you store your radios?

Do any of you have Peli cases/ similar hard carry cases?

Looking to get another Pelican case but not sure of size model for a 2-4 radio set up with chargers maybe built in for easy charging.

Post up pics of your set up! Cheesy

Peli cases all the way! If they are good enough for the army they are good enough for me lol!

If you buy a deep enough case you don't need to take the aerials off (pet hate). Something like this:

Also, i would be hesitant about leaving chargers in a case when in use... They do get rather hot!

Agree BW, Best cases on the market and can be found at a bargain some places. I have a couple for my DSLR and a spare all with Pick N Pluck. Yea chargers built in are not ideal but I came across a pic of one that looked quiet neat.

Can you point me in the direction of this thread you mention?

Forgot to mention - the peli case Ive pictured with our radio 6 packs in is a peli case - its a 1560.

for those in the trade, edgar brothers are the uk importers of peli cases, but their are some enterprising businesses out there, who are direct importing from the states. The case you see above was purchased from a uk supplier, and was in fact cheaper buying it 'retail' than at trade from the uk importer !.

Weve left the wheels on a couple of the cases, it makes an excellent pull along - and despite not looking 'hard', makes life really easy when you have your hands full.

Nope. Thats standard 'pick and pluck' foam that comes with the cases. Machined out / laser cut wanted £104 per case for the foam.

An hour or so with a chalk marker pen and a load of radios, and it looks ok. Just remember to glue the foam once its all completed, or it will move around eventually. Once I had done one, the others were easy to do.

It works well for us.  The equipment moves around a lot from country to country, in quite hard environments.  It stores the antenna and all cables which are needed. It’s a hard case which packs up in minutes, with built in power for the chargers and the relay. The relay is in its own hard case which can be take out. The cost is ok when comparing it to the cost of the radios.

A case that is going to protect expensive equipment in my eyes is worth every penny and the Peli case is one I have complete faith in.

When you say moving the gear from Country to Country. Can I ask what you do about frequencies? Do you have an Extended license that is compatible for more than just UK?

Unfortunately not, we have to apply for new short term licenses every country we go.  It’s not too bad, but it can be a lot of programming and setting up of duplexers. The filling out of the application forms are the hard work, every country has a different form along with the language. We apply for the last frequencies that we used and we are often lucky.

As posted on another thread:
We use these cases:

However we throw away the standard charging bricks and replace them with a laptop charger and spider to feed the bases. Uses less space, and less power sockets! This case actually has a full set of 6 bases now, just didn't when I took the picture.
My GP340 cases are larger:

As I have separate 6-way Chargers for those radios:

Cases are from CPC, about £25+vat ea, and then I had foam blocks cut for about £50 for 3x Radio Cases, and 2x Charger Cases. Bunged a mate £20 to cut them with a hot-wire cutter and job's a goodun. I've also got a Maplin case with some GP344's as well, but it's not as neat as these, and I'll probably wind up buying another hard case for them.

Looking at building a repeater atm, and that'll probably get properly flight cased.
