 Undecided

Hi guys

i have 3 x GM340s none of which can be powered up - the heads have been switched to verify they are OK so the prob would appear to be on the main pcb. If I didnt know better I would say they are stunned but am unable to read / write program.

the 8mhz osc in the head is running ok as is the 16.8Mhz on the main board - the voltages seem OK so far and the idiot guide in the manual is getting me nowhere

any clues hints tips ideas most gratefully recieved

cheers

When you first connect the power and switch it on, does any of the LED's flash just for a split second ?

If you think its stunned - you can still re program it. Just switch it on, and send another (suitable) codeplug to the radio, even though it doesn't sound although its doing anything. It will still listen for programming, if its stunned, and will accept any new codeplug. you can also read off a stunned radio.

Hi Sputnik,

We need a little more info with regards to what the radio does when you try and power it up... Like Ian said, do any LED's flash when you power up, is there any audio (even if its just for a split second). If the radio has been stunned then you can still read the radio, which also un-stun's it- as George pointed out.

If you are trying to read the radio and its not working then I think this is probably something more than a stun issue, and more like a codeplug error. However, if it is a codeplug error you should be seeing a sequence of flashing LED's and audio.

Also, are these radios from your existing fleet or have you purchased them recently?

Some more info and we can help you more  Smiley

Thanks guys for posts - no switch on pips farts or flashes - so now confident its not stunned - voltages ok and xtals running - but still no read / write - so now suspect processor so we've decided to send it back for a fixed price repair - fingers crossed we may end up with a new mother board :-)

But seriously we have seen this a few times before and a fix would be good to know

cheers anyway lads

I've got a GM380 that's manifested a very similar problem. I too have switched the unit out and the head and all cabling is fine. My non-techhy mind is thinking about it being a dry joint that's died in the frost where the radio's been installed in a van that's been parked up.

Did you ever find out what the cause was?

You should try to flash it with the EU Waris Lab Upgradekit.
Looks like a corrupted/deleted firmware/codeplug.

Andreas, would this likely happen from literally zero usage for the past three months?

Yes,that´s not impossible.
If it always breaks down in the flash process, change the FLASHROM and try it again.
