Tnx for reply.
I have to look in to that , removing, knobs -diecastframe  .
Never done that .. but it seems most likely a hardware problem , not software.

Hi martin

radio disassembly:( in short)

 1. turn radio off
 2. remove the battery
 3. remove antenna
 4. pull volume and channael selector knobs off of their shafts
 5. separate the chassis from internal electronics front cover (use small flat-blade screwdriver in between the wall and chassis at bottom of radio
6.disassembly chassis from main board using Torx screwdriver T6
That is it.On chassis chek all electronics, maybe a fuse is bad or something else ,after that check a on/off knob.

Hi Martin,
Resolder Flashrom (at49xxxx) & EEPROM (at25xxx).
Or replace with new flashrom.

No no no... why resolder the flashrom? gee... a big no-no to the novice

I know exactly what is up with this radio without even looking at it... it is not the flashrom lol.
Main culprits:
1) Cold solder joint to two pins on lower row of volume pot
3) Physical Damage to volume pot mechanism
2) SMD fuse blown on mainboard
3) PSU circuit fault at one of three points

If you are not a confident technician, i can repair your unit at a very modest price.
Hope you solve your issue.

A friend of mine gave me a gp340 in order to change some frequencies. I connected it to my pc using a not genuine usb cable that I always use with my gp380 without any problems. I read the gp340 codeplug, I saved it on my disk, I switched off the radio disconnected it and then....when I turned it on again it didn't work anymore   Cry
I opened it and according the schematic I can read with a voltmeter UNSWB+ at pin 5 and SWB+ at pin 4 after having switched on the S502 switch, so we could exclude problems with the f501 fuse and the s502 switch.
I suspect a firmware problem, in this case where can I find/buy all the necessary to try to upgrade it?
Thank you in advance for any help.

hi got these from one of your previous posts

1) Cold solder joint to two pins on lower row of volume pot
2) Physical Damage to volume pot mechanism
3) SMD fuse blown on mainboard
4) PSU circuit fault at one of three points

Do you have details on point 4 as I have tried 1, 2 and 3 by bridging both the switch and the smd fuse 501

Thanks, Ashley.
